A state-of-the-art care and rehabilitation facility located next to the foundation’s head-quarters in a beautiful part of Sussex. The building consists of 48 live-in units providing fully voice-controlled environmental and entertainment systems, along with significant communal smart technology to support rehabilitation.
Imperium Building Systems were given the complex brief of developing a voice-controlled residential solution to enhance care services throughout the building and develop greater independence for individuals who have suffered acquired brain injury as a result of accident or illness. The solution needed to be incredibly simple to operate for both care providers and clients, and readily deployable in clients’ own properties.
Our engineers utilised industry leading technology from Crestron to design a system capable of meeting the requirement to manage all of the environmental aspects of the live-in units, and then integrated the Amazon Alexa voice platform to provide a simple method of operating both these and the audio visual systems. The result was an incredibly intuitive and elegant solution that enables clients and care providers to control the entire space with simple voice commands for the following:
- Electric blinds
- Smart thermostat for underfloor heating
- Intelligent lighting
- Sony TV
- Audio streaming
- Nurse call and alerting
The clients also benefit from a simple user interface that they can operate on a mobile device or iPad, for example, ensuring that they have multiple ways of interacting with and managing their environment, supporting their rehabilitation through integrated smart technology.
